Proof-of-Work
Etchash mining, permissionless security, no validator set.
Code is Law
No rollbacks since 2016. Transactions are final by design.
Fixed supply
~210M ETC cap with a predictable emission schedule.

Mining nodes worldwide. No single team controls the protocol.
Is it free?+
Yes. Free and open-source. You only pay standard ETC network gas — that goes to miners, not to us.
Where are private keys stored?+
On your device only, encrypted with AES-256. Keys are never transmitted. The wallet reads and broadcasts via public RPC only.
Can I verify the code?+
Yes. Source is open, release checksums are published, and builds can be compiled from source.
Does it work with ETH?+
No. Locked to Chain ID 61 — ETC mainnet only.
Any tracking or analytics?+
The desktop wallet has no telemetry or address logging. This website uses Yandex Metrika for traffic analytics, separate from wallet keys and transactions.
Can I import an existing wallet?+
Yes. Import a private key or compatible keystore JSON file from the wallet account screen.
Can I restore it on another device?+
Yes. Use your backed-up seed phrase, private key, or keystore file. Keep backups offline and never share them.
How do I verify a download?+
Compare the file SHA-256 checksum with the published checksum before installing the release.
What happens if I lose my passphrase?+
ETC Wallet cannot recover it for you. Keep a secure backup of your seed phrase, private key, or keystore before storing funds.
